Comments: What constitutes the greatest games of all time is undoubtedly as varied as it is filtered through our own individual notions of what that may even mean. In this case, the titles I personally chose are those which led to massive leaps forward in fostering progress for the board game hobby. These titles in particular possessed a unique combination of traits which engendered cross-cultural appeal, fostered widescale appreciation for its gameplay, carried with it mechanical innovation (either by outright creating brand new mechanics themselves or popularizing a new one to the hobby), and through their success in turn directly influenced the invention of other mechanics, themes, and even whole genres. Their contributions in this manner can’t be overstated and their greatness therefore hard to overlook.
